A Response to Assyrians and Baby Boomers

I think this one will be better without explanation. I'd love it if you just read this, and paused. Consider. Reckon with what you get out of this before you go about the rest of your day.

And, in case my handwriting is hard to read (it is):
i feel alone in my opinion that
the horrors of this modern age are nothing new
but how can they be otherwise
when i just saw on pinterest a journal
from assyria, carved in clay, translated
(roughly): 'the kids these days are lost,
the world has gone to shit and surely
it'll be ending soon because
this can't be normal operation.'
and that was almost five thousand years ago.
so don't be shocked if i'm unbothered
by politics or education or the economy -
what else did you expect the world to be?
should not the response of those reborn
be compassion wrought out of
a watchful urgency instead of
nihilistic criticism?
